The Idintos project was officially born in February 2011 with the aim of creating a technological center for light aviation in Tuscany and a prototype of an ultralight seaplane, characterized by lower environmental impact, lower fuel consumption and greater safety.
High efficiency seaplanes, operating both on normal tracks and on water stretches, are a great opportunity for the world light aviation market.
Within the project, prof. Bernardo Tellini of the Department of Energy and Systems of the University of Pisa was responsible for the design of the innovative electric propulsion system for a seaplane in Prandtlplane configuration. In collaboration with the team of prof. Tellini, PITOM built the technological demonstrator, creating a complete autopiloted flight scenario in the laboratories of San Piero a Grado at University of Pisa. The overall setup was obtained by integrating piCore autopilot and piMEGS Ground Control Station with the roll bench to simulate a realistic propeller, the electric motor, the electric  propulsion system, energy storage systems, and X-Plane flight simulator. The final demonstration was successfully held in July 2012.
