The HYPSTAIR project addressed the design of components of a serial hybrid propulsion system for small aircraft. It was funded by the European Union under the FP7 framework programme.
Pitom was selected by the University of Pisa to support the Consortium and provide a complete simulated scenario to develop and test algorithms and mission profiles.
The performance analysis has been integrated in a flight simulator in order to real time evaluate the energy consumption. Moreover, performance analysis helped test some preliminary models for performance and consumption estimation of several reference missions.
SPecifically, Pitom was responsible for the design and realization of:
- Aeronautical simulator
- Autonomous flight control
- Performance predictor
- Performance estimator
- Online consumption and residual energy estimator according to the phase of flight
- Human Machine Interface.
